Barbados

Beautiful beaches, clear waters, year -round good weather and the islands’ greatest asset, it’s people - make for a great family holiday in Barbados.

Located on the eastern edge of the Caribbean islands, Barbados is composed of distinct districts, each with its own unique character. The upscale west coast, called the Gold Coast, offers amazing pink sand beaches, calm Caribbean waters and inviting golden sunshine. This part of the island is where you will find many of the islands mansions and villas, alongside some of the islands luxury hotels. To experience a fascinating combination of the colonial old and new and see first hand some of the history the capital Bridgetown is the place to head.

We could have picked many of the Caribbean islands to feature, however Barbados offers much more in the way of entertainment and the opportunity to explore than some of it’s neighbours. It is perfect for a few days of self driving to explore some of what the island has to offer.

Why we love Barbados family holidays

  • Relax on the many beautiful beaches

  • Venture underground at Harrison’s Cave

  • Take an island cruise

  • Spot monkeys in the trees at the Wildlife Reserve

  • Take part in endless watersports

The island’s interior is hilly and tropical, bringing the opportunity to Hunte’s Botanic Garden as well as nearby Welchman Hall Gully and Harrisons Cave. We also recommend stopping off at some of the island’s famous plantation houses for a glimpse of the islands elegant past and a cooling punch.

The south coast is known for it’s lively atmosphere. Whilst the east coast of the island along the Atlantic Ocean features a rugged coastline and crashing ocean waves that make it a surfer’s paradise. Bathsheba and the famous Soup Bowl are strictly for experienced surfers but the view in itself is quite stunning.

The choice of accommodation offers you the flexibility to keep to your own schedule by staying in a villa (with you own housekeeper and chef), even better if it has direct access to the beach. Or, one of the many beachfront hotels with watersports and other activities. No matter where you stay here you will be able to experience all that this island has to offer.

When to Visit

The peak season for Barbados is December to April, when you can be sure to experience long sunny days. The months of May and October are considered the shoulder months when the days are warm, but you can experience some rain. The prices during this time are also cheaper.
